This week’s inspiration is a little late, but better late than never.

I’m at the office & something caught my eye on the window…now what’s crazy is the window is in the opposite direction of where I was heading, but something stopped me anyway

As I got closer to the window, I noticed it was a butterfly. Butterflies for me are a symbol of growth and rebirth. They start a certain way, ugly to most, but develop into such beautiful creatures that when we see them, we almost forget of how they began. This is similar to us. When people see someone that glows and radiates positivity –you never expect to hear the story that person might have of the struggle they went through because it’s molded them into such a beautiful creature. They didn’t allow their circumstances to create a negative outlook for them. Pressure turns coal into diamonds.

So as I’m looking closer at this butterfly, I notice part of it’s back wing is torn. As soon as I noticed it, the butterfly flew off. I wondered how was it able to still fly. Then it struck me, things may try to tarnish, hinder and destroy who you are and what you’re destined to be. Somehow that butterfly’s wing was ripped. That wing is its being. All it knows is to fly.

When you get to that point and it seems struggles come up do you allow them to keep you down? When life kicks you to the ground, do you decide to stop walking? Don’t allow adversity to make you self-pity instead use it as a catalyst to push you further. If all you know is to fly, to shine, to succeed, and fight for who you are and what your passion is —how can you fail?

Your wings may get tired, they may tear but don’t ever stop trying to fly.

If fear is the reason you’re involved, eliminate some stress by getting your priorities straight. You priority is no t o keep everyone else in your life happy by doing all the things they expect; it is to live a life that is pleasing to God and one that you can enjoy.

Too many people are not living their dreams because they are living their fears. In other words, instead of doing things out of their heart, they do them because they are afraid of what will happen if they don’t. “Someone will get angry! I will get left out! People will talk about me!” It is time that you started being the person you really want to be. It is time to reach for your dreams.

Lord, I will delight myself in You today. You know the desires of my heart, and I entrust my dreams to You. Hemp me to be the person You created me to be. Amen.

Starting Over

Happy MoneyMakingMonday! Hope you guys are off to a great start for this week. Today I began my fast, to me it seems like a daunting task, but I know the payoff will be worth the struggle. It also symbolizes a period of starting over, clearing out all the negative energy and becoming renewed with a positive outlook on the future. On the journey to achieving our goals, we should all be well aware of the obstacles that pose as a threat and seek to deter us from reaching them. If we stay focused, we reach the finish line and once you reach the finish line you seem to forget all the pain and heartache you went through to get there.

But have you ever felt as if you were constantly trying something that didn’t work?  No matter how you looked at the problem you never got a solution?  Sometimes there are valid reasons why we don’t get the results we want or why resolution is taking longer than we expected. The issue is we get so fixated on reaching our goal we almost become desperate to make it happen, which in some ways is good, but can also make us hasty, inattentive and less strategic. Mistakes often become more apparent and in the end this only pushes us further away from the objective. If you’ve tried something over and over sometimes you have to go all the way back to the beginning, reevaluate the entire situation and develop new tactics!

Many of us are afraid of starting over. In our minds, starting over means giving up. But it isn’t giving up. You’re working smarter, not harder. As an entrepreneur , business owner or aspiring hopeful this is a valuable trait to possess– the ability to recognize when something isn’t working, and make the decision to either abandon or readjust the plan.

For the week, I have outlined three simple steps to help ease the stress and evaluate if you need to “start over”. Assess, Adjust, Advance.  The first step is to ASSESS your approach. There is a legitimate reason why you aren’t gaining sales, building clientele or booking gigs. Look at your branding, the amount of time you spend promoting, the actual inventory you have or who you’re selling to. Secondly, once you have these down, look at ways to either eliminate the problem or weakness and how to strengthen it. If you’re unable to get rid of it, learn to adjust and compensate for the weakness by overshadowing it with a strength. Example, if you aren’t the best speaker, you will need to invest in high-quality, effective marketing tools and win people over with a dynamic visual array to compensate for the weakness of public speaking. Finally, once you have completed the first two steps you are ready to begin advancing to the next level!

Sowing the Seed

If you haven’t witnessed the Biblical phrase “You reap what you sow” in effect, keep living. We all know you only get out what you put in. This applies to business, daily life –pretty much any situation you can think of in life that you touch or encounter.  If it has an action, it will have a reaction. If it has a cost, it will have a consequence.

On the flip side of it, if you never plant the seed how can you expect anything to grow from it? Many of you talk about your dreams, goals you want to reach [whether it be fame, fortune, respect, power or stability] but don’t put in the effort and dedication necessary to actually generate progress. Even working for a few days or months , then giving up because things were too hard or weren’t coming as quickly as you’d like are just as bad as not starting at all. If you only TALK about it but never act, how can anything come from it?

Faith without works is dead. That’s the business equivalent of talking about doing something, but it will not and cannot get done by itself. Sure, we say “speak your blessings into existence” but that also encompasses actually getting out, hitting the pavement, making connections, researching, building the brand and MORE!

Until you literally sit down, scope out a plan of action and TAKE action, that garden of success will never grow.   Avoid toxic relationships at all costs. These relationships are like weeds and choke off the positive relationships you need, they will grow like ivy and cover your windows and doors of opportunity.  Consequently, if you plant a seed of determination, perseverance, vision, focus, and motivation you will eventually set yourself in motion towards success.

Any career, goal, or business is an investment. You, yourself, as a brand are an investment. You will need to learn how to sell yourself correctly to get the proper return. Investing the proper time and money on QUALITY tools, marketing strategies, branding and packaging are just as important as investing the time and diligence in a garden by watering the seeds and giving them proper nourishment.

Finally, don’t try to rush or force your seeds to blossom before their time. Success is not an overnight victory. While it may seem overnight success is what makes us known, it is actually the journey of defeat, failure and hardship that makes us who we are. These dry season  of slow business, low sales, and few and far between client contacts create the greatest leaders, entrepreneurs  and visionaries. Plant your seeds of success with the necessary requirements and effort, they will yield a garden of abundance and accomplishment in DUE season.

As always, grind HARDER. Aspire GREATER.

“Haters will hate on what they ASPIRE to be, wish they COULD be and BELIEVE they can’t be.”

Anyone in this life that sets out to be successful will incur a surefire downfall if they try to please everyone. No one that makes it big, made it by having all friends and no enemies. Granted, The Golden Rule should be a major factor in your life, but at the same time it’s hard to be pretty golden when you have people left and right that would kill to see you fail. You’re wasting a ton of energy if you’re trying to keep everyone happy. Not only are you burning yourself out with an impossible task, but you’re also killing a necessary and invaluable asset of yours: FREE publicity. You don’t have to pay haters a dime to keep your name in their mouth. Yet they do it willingly, almost as if they were on your payroll.

Allow these people, that don’t see your vision to question why you’re doing what you do. Allow them to put your name out there, because more than likely, people will want to see what the hype is about. If no one is talking about you, you’re not doing something right. So once they’re interested is sparked thanks to your fabulous haters, I can almost guarantee they will be flocking to your Twitter, Facebook and website to see what is SO interesting that these people can’t stop talking about it. Now you’ve got a free buzz, it’s up to you to deliver an exceptional product and/or great service and to sell yourself like you’ve never sold before. Although haters will get your name out, it will be cast in a negative light. It’s up to you to turn it into something positive.

Highlighted in the 1st Issue of ASPIRE I released, I encourage you to pick up the 48 Laws of Power. You can’t call yourself business-minded and not have read this book. There are so many great tips that will help you to play the game and strategically turn disadvantages into advantages as well as how to play those who are out to play against you.
